School
of Night - Street Magicks Faculty
Raven, Rhea, Kaeli and Leith - all members of
Nightwing. Contact Rhea or
Raven for details of the next
class.
Introduction
This ritual was created by Raven, Rhea, Suzanna, Shad, Christine, Melissa,
Jack and RavenLeigh on Sunday October 15, 2000. Please see notes following
the ritual for details of ritual construction
and associated training materials from School of Night - Street Magicks.
The ritual is from the final (optional) day of class and is posted with
permission of the ritualists.
Pre
Ritual Actions
- Lock
door, turn down phone, personal ablutions,
remove shoes, unbind hair
- Cleanse
ritual object using techniques learned in
Street Magicks class
- Perform
Swimming Dragon energy moving exercise
- Center
thoughts, feelings, energies in the body to the
one-point (tan tien)
- Set
up altar in the East - altar cloth depicting Pythagorean
mandala, lit red candle for Mars, salt and water (combined), lit incense
(sandalwood), set up word of power chant on paper so we will be able
to all see it
- Draw
designs and sigils on our bodies with temporary markers
(tattoo pens)
The
Ritual
The
eight ritualists stand in a circle in the positions designated by the
mandala (and previous choice of role), facing inwards
Center
- all ritualists anchor to the Rug (large, heavy hand-woven rug)
Group
Tonic to attune ritualists - using vowel "A" (Ah)
Banish
Existing Energies from the ritual space using gesture and turning outward
to right - intone "a" as a nasal tone while making gesture.
Continue turning until face inwards again.
Invoke
center of mandala and fill space by intoning "O" (Oh) in a
ringing tone while making a pushing gesture (pushing from personal center
to center of space).
Invoke
Balance of Energies and Create Cosmos (Pythagorean
Mandala) - Note - this does NOT use directions (it balances all
forces in all directions). For the purposes of this ritual, Hot was
facing the altar in the east.
HOT
- I invoke the quality
of heat (hot)
COLD - I invoke the quality
of cold
DRY - I invoke the quality
of dry
MOIST - I invoke the quality
of moist
FIRE
- I invoke the element
of fire
WATER - I invoke the element
of water
EARTH - I invoke the element
of earth
AIR - I invoke the element
of air

Pythagorean Mandala

ALL
-"We define the Cosmos and together we are balanced"
Turn
outward (turning to the right) and make gesture to push outward - say
"We balance these energies in the world"
The
Working
Objects
are on altar, aligned at same point on Pythagorean Mandala as ritualists
associated with the objects.
The
Word of Power (ABRACADABRA) is on board in the East. All turn to east
and gather around altar. Each line of the invocation of the word of
power is intoned using personal tonic, while focusing on Intent of Ritual.

Each
line is a full breath.
Each letter of the word of power is intoned.
Posture, gesture, visualization, focus and tonic work together.
Each letter is a whole tone (Ah, Ah Bah, Ah Bah Rah etc)
The energy builds until the whole word is intoned (and we pause
at that point at the peak of the energy)
As
the letters of the word of power decrease, the energy that was
built by intoning the word of power is released into the objects.
When
the last "Ah" is intoned, we pause again, and then say
"It is Done".
Note
(you can also use Crowley's variation of this word of power "ABRAHADABRA"
or any other word of power in this place).

Ritual Discussion
Five
Point Ritual Construction:
Magickal
Intent
Invocation
of a Word of Power to Charge Objects with Creative Energy
(glass beads, a stone, necklace, pen, bracelet, amber brooch, Kokopelli
inscribed stone - each with significance for the ritualists)
Constructing
Ritual Space
Material
Limitations
Location: Living Room at the Pleasure Dome - Eight ritualists
Timing:
Either the hour of Jupiter or the hour of Mars on this day 10/15/2000
which is a Sunday (planetary ruler of the day: the Sun)
Planetary
Energies:
Sun is in Libra, Moon in Taurus (well aspected for working) / Saturn
in Taurus conjunct Moon (also good for structure) / Mercury is direct
(communication is clear) / Neptune is direct (we can access our inner
vision of creativity). Season is Fall. Moon is just past full moon.
Elemental
Energies:
We will balance these in the space as part of the working
Clothed
or Naked? -
Group decision is street clothes, hair unbound, bare feet
Privacy?
We
decided to leave the blinds up so we have sunshine coming in - it's
the University District, so the neighbors have seen stranger things
- we are not concerned about passers-by
Sound -
We can make as much noise as we like as it is daytime
Allergies
- Everyone is okay with sandalwood incense
Technical
Limitations
Level of training and experience of participants - we share common
understandings and training as this is the culmination of the Street
Magicks class - one participant missed a section of a class, so the
others volunteer to show her the techniques we want to use before the
ritual
Participants
want to try combining several techniques they've learned in the past
two weeks, together with a ritual template (Pythagorean
Mandala) Rhea taught in class.
- Swimming
Dragon
- to raise personal energy before ritual
- Centering,
Anchoring center to common anchor
- Group
Tonic
to attune the group - use of a nasal vowel tone
to banish energies currently in space - use of a ringing
vowel tone to define center of space - use of gentle
tone to close the space
- Use
of various magickal gestures (to banish,
to direct energy)
Choosing
Energies and Powers
Internal Energies
From Swimming Dragon, Breathing, Personal Tonic, Tension and Release,
Centering, Anchoring, Moving Energy
External Energies
Elemental Forces, Planetary Energies, Word of Power, Group Energy
Intent
Fulfillment - The Working
- Making
a Visualization
- Creating
a Physical Mandala
Using Sound - Making use of ringing, nasal and gentle tones for different
purposes
- Creating
symbols
and drawing them on our bodies with temporary markers (tattoo pens)
Raising energy, directing and releasing it
- Making
use of a Word of Power
Releasing
the Energies
The last
vowel sound of the Word of Power seals the energy
into the objects
We intone a gentle "ah" to close the space
